Dr Heather Francis is a medical oncologist, who completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Melbourne and subsequently completed specialist medical oncology training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, and in Ballarat and Albury.


Heather has worked in Malawi, sub-Saharan Africa, working in both oncology and palliative care, and here led research into the treatment of the HIV-related malignancy, Kaposi’s Sarcoma. She moved from Melbourne to Ballarat in 2013, when she joined Ballarat Cancer Care.


Clinical areas of interest include breast, ovarian, and lung cancers, and the integration of complementary therapies into standard oncological care, in particular the role of exercise in managing treatment related toxicities and improving overall outcomes. Heather strives to deliver a compassionate, personalised, and empathetic approach to her patient care.
