Dr James Edelman is a cardiothoracic surgeon with special interest in minimally invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery and is dedicated to caring for his patients.


James completed his surgical training in Western Australia and New South Wales and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. James then undertook three years of sub-specialty training in minimally invasive surgery at several renowned International Institutions including Toronto General Hospital, Canada, and Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University, USA.


During his training he completed an Exchange Fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, USA and has a keen interest in research, completing a PhD focusing on the minimisation of tissue injury in cardiothoracic surgery. He has published over 90 articles in peer reviewed journals and written chapters in multiple texts.


James is married with two daughters and is happiest when by the beach, in the ocean or up a mountain with his family.
