Dr Ruch (Ruchith) Dissanayake is a Victorian orthopaedic surgeon with international fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery.

Originally from regional Queensland, he moved to Melbourne to complete his medical degree with honours at Monash University. He subsequently undertook specialist orthopaedic training across Victoria and Tasmania, earning Fellowships of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthoA).

He further developed his foot and ankle expertise through a renowned Fellowship at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he refined his skills in foot and ankle reconstruction surgery, total ankle replacement, sports injuries and complex fracture management. The fellowship also provided the opportunity to work directly with surgeons involved in developing the latest orthopaedic technologies, including the newest generation of ankle replacements and innovative bone substitutes.

Ruch’s commitment to managing complex foot and ankle trauma was shaped by his experience at major trauma centres both locally and internationally, and led him to complete a Master of Traumatology at the University of Newcastle.
