Dr Damian Dowling is a gastroenterologist. Graduating in 1989 with First Class Honours in Medicine at Monash University, he trained in gastroenterology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.


In 1996 Dr Dowling was awarded the Gastroenterological Society of Australia Travelling Fellowship in hepatology and subsequently worked for two years in The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Liver Unit in Edgbaston, UK. Dr Dowling commenced practice in Geelong in 1999.


His practice focus is on providing comprehensive, quality, evidence based care. Areas of special interest include colorectal cancer prevention, familial colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and acute and chronic liver disease and he has undertaken research and published in these areas.


Dr Dowling is involved in many aspects of teaching including medical student teaching through Deakin University, teaching of junior medical staff at University Hospital - Geelong and teaching of advanced trainees in the field of gastroenterology
