A/Prof Andrew Cochrane is a cardiothoracic surgeon, with 24 years of consultant experience in both adult and congenital cardiac surgery and in the full range of thoracic surgical problems.


He will accept referrals for the following:



• Chest pain assessment


• Suspected or known heart valve disease


• Dilation or aneurysm of the intrathoracic aorta


• Shortness of breath


• Haemoptysis


• Lung nodule or mass cavitating lesion


• Lung cancer (primary or metastatic cancer)


• Enlarged intrathoracic lymph nodes (e.g. mediastinal or hilar lymph nodes)


• Mediastinal or intrathoracic mass


• Pleural thickening


• Pleural effusion or pericardial effusion pneumothorax (primary or secondary pneumothoraces, spontaneous or iatrogenic or traumatic)


• Lung blebs / bulla / cyst


• Haemothorax Lung abscess Pleural infection / empyema


• Pectus / chest wall deformities


• Rib or sternal abnormalities (trauma and non-traumatic conditions) eg rib fractures & complications


• Non-cardiac chest pain


• Chest wall mass


• Diaphragmatic pathology
