Dr Jacks is a highly trained orthopaedic surgeon with international experience in hip and knee replacement, sports medicine, and trauma surgery. Originally from Canada, he completed his medical degree at McGill University, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 2009.

He undertook advanced fellowship training in Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, University of Oxford (UK), before completing further fellowship training at the Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre in 2011. In 2013, Dr Jacks was selected for the prestigious John N. Insall Travelling Fellowship, an internationally recognised program awarded to leaders in knee surgery, involving advanced study across North America.

For the past 15 years, Dr Jacks practised as an orthopaedic surgeon in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), specialising in arthroplasty (joint replacement), sports medicine, and trauma care. He has worked closely with the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, providing medical coverage at training camps and competitions, and contributed to medical coverage for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Until very recently, he also served as a medical doctor with the Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol, caring for injured athletes and recreational skiers in a high-demand alpine environment.

After relocating to Western Australia, Dr Jacks completed a year of public hospital practice with the South Metropolitan Health Service, working across Fremantle Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and Rockingham General Hospital. He is now fully accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). He continues to work within the public health system and enjoys teaching, mentoring, and contributing to the ongoing development of the profession.

Dr Jacks met his wife in Perth in 2011 while completing his fellowship training at the Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre. Family is central to his life, and together they have two young, active boys who enjoy participating in a range of sports. Since relocating to Perth, the family has embraced the lifestyle and values the opportunity for their children to grow up close to grandparents and extended family. Outside of clinical practice, Dr Jacks enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, spending time outdoors, and skiing. He also enjoys staying involved at the community level, assisting with medical coverage at his children’s sporting events and contributing as a coach when time allows.

Dr Jacks is excited to serve the Perth community and to provide high-quality, compassionate orthopaedic care, supporting patients to return to the activities they value most.
