Where we are
Dr Marwan Idrees is a consultant General Surgeon, Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and transplant practising in Perth, Western Australia. He holds public appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital and consults privately at Murdoch Private Clinics.
Dr Idrees completed his general surgical training in Western Australia and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He subsequently undertook dual subspecialty fellowships in Hepatopancreatobiliary surgery through the AANZHPBA program and in Abdominal Transplantation through the Australian PFET pathway. He completed further advanced training at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom — one of Europe’s largest transplant centres — where he gained extensive experience in complex liver and pancreatic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and kidney transplantation including donor surgery.
His practice combines subspecialty expertise with comprehensive general surgical care. Dr Idrees manages a broad range of conditions including gallbladder disease, hernias, reflux and hiatus hernia, as well as complex liver and pancreatic disorders. He offers minimally invasive surgery where appropriate, with a focus on enhanced recovery, patient safety, and optimal long-term outcomes.
Dr Idrees has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in surgical oncology, transplantation, and minimally invasive surgery, and remains actively involved in teaching and clinical innovation. He works closely with referring general practitioners and specialists to provide coordinated, patient-centred care.
