Siva obtained his Medical Degree in 1999 at Kasturba Medical College in India. He is originally from Malaysia and made Perth his home in 2007.  

He completed his postgraduate training in General Surgery at the University of Malaya, obtaining membership with the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).  He migrated to Perth and underwent further specialised advanced surgical training in all major Perth hospitals through the surgical training program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He successfully obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015.  

Siva was subsequently selected for a Bariatric Surgery fellowship in North Shore Hospital, Auckland which he successfully completed in 2016. This is an OSSANZ accredited bariatric surgery training position. He has trained to deal with obesity and all related problems and performs gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch operation. He is also a GESA accredited endoscopist and performs gastroscopy and colonoscopies.
