Scholtz is a general surgeon with an interest in breast surgery and breast cancer management, varicose veins and thyroid disease. His scope of practice also includes hernia, gallbladder, acute care/trauma surgery, haemorrhoids, “lumps and bumps”, gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

Scholtz has been a fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa since 2008, and completed a Masters in Surgery in 2009. He left a busy private practice in Pretoria as well as his Veindoctor vein clinic, which he co-founded in 2013, to relocate to Warrnambool in February 2019.

He enjoys teaching and formed part of the faculty of ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) instructors. Scholtz relocated with his wife Charlene and two boys, Luke and Kian. His interests include aviation and spending time with his family.
