St John of God Subiaco Hospital CEO Tina Chinery said the works would improve the patient and visitor experience, revitalise and replace older infrastructure and prepare the campus for new clinical facilities.

“The works will result in a new look for St John of God Subiaco Hospital with refreshed and upgraded facilities, allowing us to continue offering premium medical and surgical care,” Ms Chinery said.

“This includes modernising the main entrance and lobby, replacing patient lifts across the campus, improving visitor parking, and upgrading older infrastructure to ensure continuity of service.

“The works will position us as the hospital of choice for our leading specialists, our patients and will enable future growth.”

Multiplex will mobilise its team on site over the coming weeks and works are anticipated to continue until mid-2026.

The masterplan for the redevelopment of Subiaco hospital spans several stages.

Stage One foundational works were completed in early January this year. This included an upgrade to a number of departments including the kitchen, the provision of new service lifts, and a six-bed negative pressure isolation ward.

Stage Two engineering and enabling works include:

  • A refurbishment and upgrade to the main hospital entrance and lobby, including a new reception counter, floor finishes and digital signage.
  • The replacement of patient lifts across the campus.
  • An upgrade to the existing multi-storey carpark.
  • Upgrades to the secondary and tertiary engineering services, including a new site energy plant, site water plant and the relocation of the power services/switches.

A decision on Stage Three is anticipated later this year. Stage Three of St John of God Subiaco Hospital’s transformation includes a new eight-storey clinical building with a mother and baby centre, heart centre, six operating theatres, and a new Chapel.
