Maternity
The birth of your baby is a joyous occasion. Our long
established Maternity Care Unit has an excellent reputation amongst
mums and Melbourne's leading obstetricians. With more than 700
babies born every year at our Hospital, we cater for a range of
birthing needs.
Our Maternity Care Unit is staffed with experienced
midwives, nurses and referring obstetricians. Some of our midwives
are also specialist lactation consultants who are able to provide
additional expertise with breastfeeding.
Our four birthing rooms have en-suite facilities
including large corner baths and a range of labour aids
to make your birth more comfortable such as bean
bags, fit balls and mats. The birthing suites also have direct
access to our state-of-the-art operating theatres.
You will enjoy a private room with full en-suite
facilities, television, telephone, internet access and
external views along with expert care and support for you and your
new baby.

When to come to hospital
It is very important that you contact our Maternity Care Unit
should any of the following occur:
- your membranes rupture (water breaks) whether you are having
contractions or not
- your contractions are occurring at regular intervals and / or
causing distress
- you are experiencing any blood loss
- you notice a decrease in the activity of your baby
- you have continuous abdominal pain
