Training and development

We invest in significant training and development opportunities for our caregivers. With more than 50 interactive online programs, accredited courses and clinical postgraduate pathways we promote education as a critical aspect of excellence in care.

Salary packaging

We offer salary packaging options to all our full time, part time and eligible casual employees.

Salary packaging can reduce your income tax by allowing you to pay for certain expenses with pre-tax dollars. You have the option to salary package your mortgage, rent, gas or electricity bills, groceries, leasing a car and much more.

Flexible work options

We support flexible work options to meet your work-life balance needs. You may be able to vary your working arrangements; such as work hours, work location and the way work is organised.

Purchased leave

A highly valued employee benefit, providing eligible caregivers with the option to exchange a pro-rata reduction in fortnightly salary in return for the accrual of an additional one or two weeks’ leave.

Discounts for hospital / medical / health insurance services

Eligible caregivers and their dependants can receive discounts for hospital and medical services provided by St John of God Health Care facilities.

The hospital services discount is 10 per cent of hospital charges, or the gap between the hospital charges and the rebate provide by the individual's health fund, whichever is the lesser amount. Some exclusions apply. Additionally, a number of health insurance funds offer various products and discounts for St John of God Health Care caregivers.

Employee Assistance Program

We partner with Converge International to provide employee assistance to our caregivers and their immediate family members. The Employee Assistance Program offers you free confidential support for a wide-range of problems that may be affecting you. It gives you access to independent qualified professionals, including psychologists, social workers and management coaches.

The Employee Assistance Program is:

  • confidential
  • available to all caregivers and their immediate family members
  • a free service for up to 6 sessions per issue
