We may offer dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), an evidence-based therapy which is widely-used for people who have borderline personality disorder, or strong traits of this disorder.
You may be diagnosed with a personality disorder if:
- you have a history of self-destructive or impulsive behaviour which affects you and those around you, including frequent mood swings
- your emotions, thoughts and behaviour make it difficult for you to go about your day-to-day life
- find it hard to change the way you do things, even when it negatively affects your ability to hold a job or maintain relationships with people.
About our program
Research shows DBT is very effective in reducing suicidal behaviour, deliberate self-harm, hospitalisation, substance use, anger, depression and in improving general quality of life.
The therapy focuses on enhancing your motivation and increasing your own capabilities.
Topics may include:
- distress tolerance
- emotion regulation
- interpersonal effectiveness.
