St John of God Subiaco Hospital patients enjoy the new maternity ward

As part of the renovation of Perth’s flagship maternity hospital, patient rooms and common areas were upgraded to enable maternity patients to be cared for in a more comfortable, contemporary environment.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital Chief Executive Officer Professor Shirley Bowen said the significant investment reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring maternity patients receive an exceptional hospital experience.

“We have a long history of providing maternity care to the Western Australian community. The newly refurbished ward builds on this history and creates a welcoming environment that promotes healing and wellness for women and their families during one of the most significant moments in their lives,” she said.

The project is the first step in a rich program of works that will further enhance the hospital’s leading maternity care and services.

Plans for further refurbishments and a major redevelopment of the hospital are progressing. The redevelopment includes the construction of a new dedicated Mother and Baby Centre comprising 66 large bedroom suites, obstetric theatre, 26 bed neonatal intensive care unit and a maternal fetal assessment unit.
