As part of the renovation, all patient rooms and common areas on the ward will be upgraded, allowing maternity patients to be cared for in a more comfortable, contemporary environment.
St John of God Subiaco Hospital Chief Executive Officer Professor Shirley Bowen said the significant investment reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing maternity patients the very best hospital experience.
“The refurbished ward will also provide our caregivers, doctors and volunteers a more modern work environment, contributing to enhanced morale and teamwork,” she said.
The project is expected to be completed by early May and is the first step in a rich program of works which will further enhance the hospital’s leading maternity care and services.
Plans for a major redevelopment of the hospital are progressing. The redevelopment includes the construction of a new dedicated Mother and Baby Centre comprising 66 large bedroom suites, obstetric theatre, 26 bed neonatal intensive care unit, and a maternal fetal assessment unit.
