The event is held each year in support of Ronald McDonald House, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital accommodation, education and support programs for families with seriously ill children.

Alongside 1,256 other participants, Dr Stobie walked approximately 42 kilometres across Perth from 7.30pm Saturday 6 March, well into the morning, to raise much needed funds for the organisation.

Dr Stobie commented that thanks to the generosity of the community, he raised over $12,000, more than doubling the amount raised last year.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the significant support I received. It has been truly overwhelming and very much appreciated,” he said.

“$12,000 will go a long way in assisting those who are supported by Ronald McDonald House.

“In fact, it could provide 42 nights of accommodation, 353 dinners for a family or 153 lessons in the learning centre.

“As a healthcare professional, I’ve witnessed first-hand the devastating impact that childhood illness can have on families, especially those travelling from remote locations. I have also found that people are very happy to donate to such a great cause.

“It’s a privilege to have participated in the event and help ensure families are supported throughout their medical journey."
