Why did you join us?
I started working at St John of God Murdoch Hospital after I had an experience as a student nurse on one of the wards. Soon after that, I applied and got a position as a patient care assistant, which gave me great experience while I was studying. What do you enjoy most about working with us?
I enjoy the culture, warmth and kindness at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. I enjoy the very team-focused nature of our work and the fact that we celebrate everything. We celebrate our caregivers and the work that we do.What opportunities have you received while working with us?
I've had so many opportunities in my 15 years here. I started as a patient care assistant and then got into the graduate nursing program here. I was encouraged to move into a clinical educator role, and was very much supported in that time.I had some time off to have my two babies and when I returned, I was supported with very flexible working arrangements.
I then had the opportunity to work as a clinical nurse in the Quality and Risk department.
I have been on a number of courses including leadership and behavioural programs that St John of God Murdoch Hospital runs.
I also had a very rare opportunity as a new graduate, to be sent to Rome for the canonization of Mary MacKillop, representing St John of God Health Care at the international historical event.
What do you love about living in Perth?
I love living in Perth because there are so many activities for my family - I love taking them to Kings Park and my favourite place is Araluen Botanical Gardens where you can see the tulips in spring. There are lots of beaches, lots of cafes and all of the things that you need to be happy and comfortable.
What do you want other people to know about working with St John of God Health Care?
If you come to work at St John of God Health Care, you will see that the mission and values are not just written down on a piece of paper. They're living, they're active and they're embedded in our culture. How do you socialise with your team outside of work?
My team love to socialise in Quality and Risk. We have been out for dim sum together - we love going to places for dinner. We've really enjoyed spending time together at the Murdoch ball and we love our Christmas celebrations - any opportunity to do things outside of work, we do it.What does St John of God Health Care do to make you feel cared about in the workplace?
I feel very cared for working here at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. We have a lot vested into us, whether it be courses that we are sent on or whether it be coffee vans that come to provide us free coffees, free lunches, parties and celebrations, even our big Christmas celebrations. There's a lot put into the caregivers towards making us feel valued and appreciated.
