Patient information seminar series

St John of God Murdoch Hospital is hosting a calendar of free patient information seminars to help community members better understand their treatment options and procedures.

Confirmed 2021 seminars are available for registration from January.

Over the year, there will be multiple seminars run by top specialists at St John of God Murdoch Hospital.

The information seminars are designed for community members to come along to our hospital and learn more about various procedures, services of interest, recovery and the different options available. Some of the procedures covered will include joint replacement, paediatric ear, nose and throat, women’s health procedures and bariatric surgery.

Anyone can attend these seminars, without a referral, and it is a welcoming environment with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Best of all, the patient information seminars are completely free of charge.

Joint replacement with Associate Prof Piers Yates

Make the right decision about knee or hip treatment and surgical options, as we discuss arthritis and associated symptoms, joint replacement surgery and the recovery process.

About the presenter: Associate Prof Piers Yates is the Head of Orthopaedics at St John of God Murdoch Hospital and specialises in joint replacement, hip resurfacing, trauma, and perioperative management of patients.

About the presenter: Mr Alan Thomas is a upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon at St John of God Murdoch Hospital, with interests in endoscopic and laparoscopic treatment of morbid obesity, metabolic syndrome, hiatus hernias and reflux disease.

Back and neck pain with Dr Greg Cunningham

About the presenter: Dr Greg Cunningham is a spinal and orthopaedic surgeon at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. He is experienced in treating all spinal problems including the most complex or those requiring a second opinion. 

Ablations and pacemakers with Dr Andrew Liu

About the presenter: Dr Andrew Liu is a cardiologist at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. He specialises in the treatment of arrhythmias including insertion of pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation devices and catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders.
