St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital Hotel Services Duty Manager Megan Hughes says recent upgrades to housekeeping equipment meant a number of housekeeping trolleys were recently replaced.

“When we heard about the work carried out by the Rotary Club of Osborne Park, it absolutely fit with our mission and values to donate these trolleys to this important project,” says Megan.

“We were lucky to meet with Ray and Tony to hand over the trolleys and it was a great feeling knowing they are going to be put to good use in a place where access to this type of equipment is limited.”

Some facts about the Rotary Club of Osborne Park’s Cambodia Hospital Equipment Project

  • Over the past seven years the club has shipped 33 x 40 foot containers of used hospital equipment and medical supplies assisting in equipping the major public hospitals in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and provinces.
  • A significant amount of used hospital equipment and medical supplies have become available in Western Australia following the upgrading and replacement of hospitals throughout the state.
  • Rotary Club members play an active part in collecting this equipment and taking it to be stored in a warehouse. Once enough equipment is collected, it is shipped to Cambodia and distributed to hospitals.
  • Volunteer technicians and nurses – who are partly subsidised by the Club – are sent to Cambodia to ensure the equipment is working and to assist in training local hospital staff in its use.
