SJG Mt Lawley Hospital caregivers celebrate Jeremys retirement

Jeremy has been a beloved fixture at SJG Mt Lawley Hospital, always at the side of Housekeeping Assistant, Rod Handy.

Jeremy has decided to retire and is kicking off the next chapter of his life with a trip to the warmer climes of Tahiti, with his brother.

Megan Hughes, Manager Hotel Services, says the sheer number of people that attended his farewell is testament to the important place he holds in the hearts and minds of caregivers and the hospital.

“Jeremy started by working in Stores, alongside Peter.  He then worked in the laundry, assisting with the washing and folding of linen.

“He has since worked closely with Rod and we are used to seeing one with the other. He played an important role picking up and delivering linen and waste to the wards and the medical suites.

“Most people’s mornings would involve a chat with Jeremy, either in the corridors or hospital café.”

Ms Chris Hanna, Chief Executive Officer, says Jeremy’s retirement farewell spoke volumes about the connection he has to caregivers throughout the hospital.

“I think I speak for all of us in saying that Jeremy will be truly be missed,” says Chris.

“He carried out his duties each day with pride and has been a well-loved member of our hospital.

“We wish Jeremy the very best of luck in his retirement.”

Jeremy found work at SJG Mt Lawley Hospital through Edge Employment Solutions and was supported by his coordinator, Bernie Poupard.
