“We have 16 caregivers in our CSD team and we work very closely with Theatre caregivers,” says Pete.

“Our job is to process all reusable medical devices for operating suite and procedural areas, making sure we do this in a timely manner to meet theatre lists.

“Each procedure requires different equipment, so we are in constant communication with the theatre team to make sure everything is on-hand and ready to go.

“We implemented Instacount™ - an automated system - which facilitates the accurate tracking of all instruments used to patients.

“All of our caregivers have taken this up brilliantly and I am proud of their efforts.”

When asked what sets his team apart, Pete is full of praise for those working with him.

“We are like one big family,” he said.

“We have team members who have been with us for as long as 30 years, and some who have only recently started.

“Our people also come from a range of different background and it is great to learn about their experiences and cultures.

“In addition to the team, we regularly have students from Central TAFE join us as part of their practical assessments.

“It is a great opportunity for the students to see what happens in reality, and it gives us the chance to showcase what we do in CSD.”
