Nominated by Nurse Manager, Anna Beazley, Tahira is an important member of the Day Surgery team.

“Tahira always brings something special to our day and is always smiling, happy to be working with others and keen to offer to help out wherever it is needed,” says Anna.

“I nominated Tahira for Hospitality as I see the way she is warm and welcoming to our patients, spending time soothing and reassuring those who might be a little nervous before their surgery.

“This is important in setting the tone for a great patient experience, and Tahira goes above and beyond to achieve this.

“I appreciate how she embraces the small things, such as bringing in flowers from her garden for my office or bringing people cups of tea during busy times.

“These small acts can make a very big difference and show just how receptive she is to making others feel comfortable and happy.”

Anna also applauded Tahira for her willingness to move to other areas of the hospital whenever she is needed.

According to Tahira, the ability to move around keeps her job interesting.

"I love working in the Day Surgery Unit but see working in other areas as an opportunity to get to know other caregivers and to see how things are done elsewhere.

"My favourite thing about my job is that I get to spend time with patients and comfort them if they are feeling a little unsure.  It is lovely to be able to help make their hospital stay a little more comfortable," says Tahira.

Tahira was presented with her certificate and a gift voucher at a special morning tea in the Day Surgery Unit.

We would like to congratulate Tahira for her fantastic work.

Our Caregiver Living Values Award recognised caregivers who go above and beyond their day-to-day duties in accordance with our five values of hospitality, compassion, justice, excellence and respect.
