Nurturing the next generation of graduates

Working in our Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit, Registered Nurse Pippa Edward’s calm and nurturing nature brings great comfort to patients as they recover immediately following their procedure.

It is this nurturing instinct that has seen her receive the August Caregiver Living Values Award.

Nominated by Theatre Nurse Unit Manager Oliver Brennan, Pippa received the award for demonstrating the hospital’s value of Excellence.

Oliver said that Pippa consistently goes above and beyond in her duties, particularly through mentoring graduate and student nurses.

“Pippa volunteers to train our students and graduates and I consistently receive great feedback and compliments from them and our training facilitators. She allows them to develop by instilling faith in their abilities and this is an absolute joy to watch,” says Oliver.

Pippa has also demonstrated a commitment to quality improvement.

“Pippa identifies areas of improvement including policies, procedures and cultural opportunities which is a testament to her dedication in delivering excellent patient care and contributing to a safe and happy workplace,” says Oliver.
