Harmony Place provides accommodation and support services for women and their dependent children who are escaping domestic or family violence.

RUAH Case Worker Jo said that the donation will help make the journey a little easier for the mothers and their children at a very hard time in their lives.

“Our women have no income or family support to help them rebuild their lives. Donations such as this enable us to bring some normality and comfort to their lives during a period of great change,” said Jo.

With 100 children coming through their care each year, Jo said the donation is likely to go towards assisting with children’s expenses such as sporting club registration, school holiday outings, reading glasses or even prams.

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital Director of Mission Mario Bugna said the donation was a result of fundraising initiatives undertaken by the hospital’s caregivers.

“Our caregivers have shown great passion for helping women and children in need. There are more fundraising initiatives underway and we look forward to be able to contribute further to Harmony Place and the incredible services it provides,” said Mario.

Last Christmas the hospital gave the refuge 80 boxes filled with essential personal items including toiletries which were used by the families on arrival at the crisis accommodation.
