St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Director of Mission Integration Tara Peters said Binsu received the annual award for her dedication to assisting patients, colleagues and nursing students.

Binsu said she was honoured and surprised to receive the award.

“I really enjoy caring for patients and find it very rewarding to make a difference and identify opportunities to enhance the level of care and comfort for our patients,” she said.

“I also really enjoy working at the hospital and with such a great team - we are all such great friends and they are like a second family to me.”

The Caregiver of the Year Award is selected from the Caregiver of the Month winners over the past 12 months.

Tara said Binsu was originally awarded our September Caregiver of the Month for her willingness to go above and beyond expectations with patients and fellow caregivers.

She was also recognised for her efforts to support and nurture nursing students and provide significant input into developing effective processes for the re-registration of caregivers.

Binsu said she was very passionate about education and feels it is important to assist the next generation of nurses and ensure students enjoy their time and experience at the hospital.

The Caregiver of the Month nominations can be submitted by patients, visitors and caregivers and is based on demonstrating strong evidence of bringing the organisation’s Values to life.
