- Community and social outreach
Community and social outreach
In line with our core role to provide exceptional public health care, we regularly invite the community into the hospital for health education and community events.
Our commitment to Aboriginal health includes a special recognition of the annual NAIDOC Day and Reconciliation Week events, where our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander caregivers and members of the community are invited to widen cultural awareness and celebrate Indigenous culture through participation.
Developed specifically to meet the needs of Perth Aboriginal women and predominantly staffed by Aboriginal midwives, Moort Boodjari Mia delivers a community based perinatal (antenatal and postnatal) service.
Moort Boodjari Mia also provides education on pregnancy, health and parenting in a culturally appropriate manner.
Outreach and Family Support
Our Midland Outreach and Family Support service provides access to short term home care packages, emergency clothing and shoes, taxi vouchers and bus passes for patients and their carers with financial hardship to ensure they can access health care.
As a not-for-profit organisation we dedicate part of our revenue to our St John of God Social Outreach services. These services reach out to people experiencing disadvantage to improve health and wellbeing and are available free of charge or at low cost.
