Nursing students get hands on experience at Midland
The first cohort of student nurses has started their practical learning experience at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals.

The students from Curtin University and Edith Cowan University will spend up to seven weeks at the hospital after starting on Monday 28 March 2016.
Director of Nursing Jeffrey Williams said students would complete their training in a range of clinical areas.
“They will work alongside our nurses who will support and mentor them as they transition to becoming registered nurses,” he said.
“Welcoming these students into St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals is a part of our commitment to becoming a key training hospital for students studying a range of health disciplines.”
Curtin University post-graduate nursing student Dayna Luscombe said it was exciting to be able to complete her practical experience at a brand new hospital.
“It will be great to see how the new facilities and new technology are able to aid patient care,” she said.
“It is also exciting to be a part of history as the first nursing students at the hospitals.”
Mr Williams said offering educational opportunities at the hospitals would help Midland become a healthcare and education hub.
“The opportunity to work with Curtin University is particularly important as the university is building a new clinical school next to the hospital,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity to start the journey for Midland to become a healthcare education hub in the future.”
