The exhibition celebrates the contribution of orthopaedics to the health and wellbeing of the Australian community and includes:

  • the history of orthopaedic surgery in Australia over the past 80 years
  • hip and knee replacement prosthesis
  • bones and fractures
  • 3D printed prosthesis
  • orthopaedics in war time
  • surgical tools and much more.

St John of God Health Care Manager Regional Hospitals Mark Grime said two orthopaedic surgeons have recently established practices in Geraldton, complementing visiting orthopaedic surgeons and making the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s travelling exhibition particularly relevant for the local community.

“This is a great opportunity for midwest residents to learn about the orthopaedic surgery available in Geraldton," he said.

"Regional patients often travel to Perth for specialist surgery however some care and surgery, such as hip and knee replacement surgery, can be provided closer to home."

St John of God Geraldton Hospital acting Chief Executive Officer Debra Goddard said providing orthopaedic surgery such as hip and knee replacement closer to home will give residents of our local midwest community greater choice.
