Keep it pumping - cardiology masterclass

Join St John of God Bendigo Hospital cardiologists as they focus on the early management of common cardiac related conditions encountered in the primary care setting and provide referral pathways for direct access to the Cardiac Assessment Unit, giving GPs confidence in providing optimal care for their patients.

Cardiovascular disease is one of Australia’s largest health complaints, in 2024 coronary heart disease was the leading cause of burden and accounted for nearly 10% of all deaths.

Learning outcomes

  1. Outline an evidence-based approach to assessment, diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias.
  2. Demonstrate primary care management of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) versus reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
  3. Discuss the indication and interpretation of cardiac testing, such as holter monitor, TTE, and CT calcium scoring.
  4. Outline assessment and management of the potential acute cardiac patient using documented St John of God Bendigo Hospital Cardiac Assessment Unit referral pathways.
