New expansion for St John of God Ballarat Hospital
18 Dec 2020
St John of God Ballarat Hospital has experienced increasingly high levels of patient activity in recent years and recognises the need to continue the provision of excellent and compassionate care through its health delivery. Expanding the hospital’s size, scope and capabilities now, will ensure that the needs of the local and wider community are met and exceeded.
The $56 million project will include:
- A brand new 10 bed Intensive Care Unit/ Coronary Care Unit
- A new Central Sterile Services Department
- Four new operating theatres
- A new 30-bed in-patient ward
Chief Executive Officer, Alex Demidov, is excited about the announcement, and what it means for the Ballarat community.
“With the growing development of the hospital and its service offerings, local residents will continue to be able to stay close to home and experience the very best in health care right here in Ballarat.”
This hospital growth continues the legacy and mission of the Sisters of St John of God which began in 1871 and brought them to Ballarat in 1915 to serve and care for our community.
The new building is anticipated to be completed in 2023.
