The nursery can now comfortably hold up to 7 mums and bubs at one time, creating a more spacious and inviting area.

The larger space also allows for our nurses and midwives to provide better patient care with more storage space and easier access to the newborns.

Midwifery Clinical Coordinator Erica Ferguson said the new nursery would help the hospital provide extra care for babies and their parents.

“It will greatly improve our ability to provide quality clinical care to our smallest patients, as well as providing families with more privacy during the often stressful time that is having a baby in the Special Care Nursery," she said.

Lauren Pascoe, whose baby spent three months in the old nursery, came back to see the changes.

“It’s going to make the nurses jobs so much easier," she said.

“It’s a bigger, better facility."
