Variety key for Karen

Patient Services Officer Karen says working at Hawkesbury District Health Service provides her with variety of work while making a difference to people’s lives.

Karen, who has worked at the hospital for almost two years, said she has always wanted to work in a hospital environment and finds the work rewarding.

“I like the idea of helping people and making a difference in people's lives, even if it's just with a smile on a really bad day,” she said.

“There is plenty of variety and learning opportunities.”

“One day I’m working in the emergency department as a ward clerk and the next, I’m working at the front office processing accounts.”

Karen said that the easy commute to Hawkesbury was also a consideration when choosing to work at the hospital.

“There's minimal traffic to and from the Hawkesbury and the parking is free.”

“The meals in the cafeteria are pretty good too!”
