The scholarship, awarded to one St John of God Health Care caregiver each year, recognises Glen’s work as a respite team leader at St John of God Accord where he helps to provide a break for full time carers and our clients with disabilities.

Glen’s manager Nick Pouki said Glen made a significant contribution to clients and his co-workers in his role as team leader within Accord’s respite services.

“Glen does not do the bare minimum. He gets to know each client and their families on an individual level, helping them to set goals and develop skills to be more independent,” Nick said.

“This significantly improves the quality of life for clients as they feel that they are able to contribute more to society.”

The scholarship will send Glen on a pilgrimage to retrace the steps of Saint John of God and the St John of God Health Care founding Sisters through Spain and Ireland later this year.

Scholarship nominations are sought each year to recognise caregivers with the scholarship named after long-serving Group Director of Mission, Jennifer Stratton.
