Dr Justin Vivian undertook undergraduate medical training at the University of Western Australia and postgraduate Urological Surgical training at Royal Perth Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin Repatriation Hospital (Melbourne), and Princess Alexander Hospital (Brisbane). Dr Vivian has special interests in laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic urological surgery, urological cancer surgery and stone surgery. He consults and operates at St John of God Subiaco Hospital and St John of God Wembley Day Surgery.
Dr Vivian performed the first laparoscopic nephrectomy in WA with Dr Peter Wilsher at Royal Perth Hospital in 2000 and he performed the first laparoscopic renal donor operation in Western Australia with Professor Mohan Rao in 2001. In 2004 he pioneered laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer in WA. In 2007 he trained on the da Vinci Robotic Assisted Surgical System in Sunnyvale, USA and he performed the first Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy in WA in December 2007 with Dr Richard Pemberton.
