Dr John Richmond graduated from Monash University in 1972.
After five years in Western Australia he returned to Melbourne to complete two years of training in Renal Medicine at Royal Melbourne Hospital under Professor Priscilla Kincaid-Smith.
This was followed by 18 months research in London, Ontario Canada, examining aspects of animal models of acute renal failure and also the manner in which people adapt to various modalities of dialysis.
On returning to Australia, Dr Richmond held a position as a Consultant Physician/Nephrologist in Renal Medicine at the old Prince Henry's Hospital in St Kilda Road before locating to Ballarat in 1983.
He practises as a Consultant General Physician and during his time in Ballarat has overseen the establishment of a Dialysis and Renal Service which provides support for patient from Ballarat and the Northwest corridor.
