Dr Andrew Miles graduated in January 1991 from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Western Australia and completed his neurosurgery training in Perth and Melbourne before undertaking sub-specialty training in complex spine surgery and epilepsy/brain tumour surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA.
Dr Miles commenced private practice in neurosurgery and spinal surgery in Perth in 2002 and is currently accredited at St John of God Subiaco and Murdoch Hospitals.
Dr Miles has a special interest in spinal surgery, chronic back pain, sciatica and cervical radiculopathy / myelopathy, spinal instrumentation and fusion and cervical and lumbar prosthetic disc surgery.
Dr Miles has continued to maintain and advance his interest and expertise in spinal motion preservation technologies as well as other complex spinal sub-specialty areas such as minimally invasive/minimal-access spine surgery and surgery for sacroiliac joint disease.
Dr Miles was the primary driving force behind the introduction of intraoperative CT scan imaging with Airo CT linked to Brainlab neuronavigation at St John of God Subiaco Hospital, the first hospital in Australia to utilise this technology and the Southeast Asian/Australian reference site for this technology.
Andrew is a member of the Neurosurgery Society of Australasia, AOSpine and the International Society for Advancement Spine Surgery.
