Dr Ewan MacDermid is a colorectal and general surgeon in Western Sydney who consults in Windsor and Westmead.

Dr MacDermid operates at Hawkesbury District Health Service and Westmead Private Hospitals and has special interests in laparoscopic surgery for bowel cancer and benign bowel disease, colonoscopy, haemorrhoids, anal fistulae, rectal prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction. He also performs general surgical operations including hernia repair and gallbladder surgery. 

Ewan studied medicine at Aberdeen University in Scotland, before completing his general surgical training in Western Sydney, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019. He then completed a year of sub-specialist training in colorectal surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital, followed by two years at Nepean and Bankstown Hospitals with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).

With a special interest in screening for patients with disabilities and affordable surgeries for privately insured patients, he provides compassionate, timely and affordable care when patients need it most.
