St John of God Health Care announces appointments to key executive roles

St John of God Health Care welcomes three new executives.

St John of God Health Care has appointed three new executives that will bring extensive experience and capability to the organisation and ensure we continue to provide safe, sustainable health care.

The three new appointments are:
Sarah Asmussen appointed to the newly created role of Chief of Staff, Strategy and Planning
Xavier Saldoni appointed as the organisations’ inaugural Chief Risk Officer 
Janet Jones appointed as the acting Chief Nursing Officer.

Sarah joins St John of God Health Care, one of the largest Catholic providers of health care services in Australia, from I-Med Radiology Network, where she served as WA State Manager. Sarah has held various leadership positions with the Metro North Hospital and Health Service for Queensland Health, GenesisCare and with the Government of Northwest Territories in Canada. Additionally, Sarah holds clinical expertise as nuclear medical scientist.

Xavier Saldoni will be leading risk, safety, assurance and legal operations across the organisation, collaborating extensively with all executives, hospitals and services. Xavier has more than 20 years’ experience advising and leading risk, compliance and assurance functions in Australia and internationally across financial services and health care. Amongst other roles, Xavier has served as the Chief Risk Officer at ME Bank, Bank of Queensland and Medibank. Xavier also worked in KPMG’s Risk practice in Spain, UK and Australia. Xavier will be based in Melbourne with regular travel to Perth, hospital and services.

Janet has more than 30 years’ nursing experience as has held a number of senior management and leadership positions in the Middle East, the UK and Australia. Janet, joins us from St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals where she is the Director of Nursing and Midwifery and will be acting in the role for up to nine months.

St John of God Health Care Group Chief Executive Officer Bryan Pyne said he was excited to have Sarah, Xavier and Janet join the leadership team, and help guide the organisation towards its strategic goal of being the best health care organisation in Australia.

“These roles are critical in enabling our organisation to continue providing safe and sustainable health care services to our communities, as well as growing our capabilities to meet the increased demand for our services.”

Sarah’s and Xavier’s appointments are effective 18 March, and Janet commenced in the role 4 March 2024.
