Prior to this, Dr Prado was Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director Academic and Medical Services at Epworth, a role he has held since 2018.

He was selected through a rigorous and highly competitive recruitment process and has extensive experience in clinical leadership at executive levels in both private and public health care organisations.

Making the announcement, Group CEO Bryan Pyne said Dr Prado was appointed because of his outstanding credentials in clinical governance and medical services.

“As a health care organisation, we have a priority to ensure the provision of the highest standards of person-centred health care.

“This is an important clinical leadership role and will work closely with our doctors, clinicians, management and executive teams to promote a culture of excellence, best practice in patient safety and drive oversight of our clinical governance framework.

Dr Prado more than ten years’ experience at an executive level, and is highly active within the health care sector, sitting on a broad range of committees and advisory panels.

He has a lifelong dedication to education and learning,and holds a number of Board positions.

He is a Fellow of RACMA and RACGP and the first Australian to gain fellowship of American College of Medical Quality and American College of Healthcare Executives.

He will commence at St John of God Health Care in July 2023.
