Cardiology research

Our Group focuses on improving outcomes for people with cardiovascular conditions that are public health priorities in Australia. We target our research across the most common causes of cardiovascular disease and death, including heart failure, angina and heart attack, elevated serum cholesterol and arrhythmias.
  • Cardiovascular disease is leading cause of death and a major burden of disease in Australia.
  • Around 4,600 patients were admitted to our hospital in 2018/19 for cardiovascular conditions involving angina and heart attack, high-risk arrhythmia and heart failure.
  • Ongoing research is essential to improve our knowledge and methods in effective prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
  • Our research targets the most common causes of cardiovascular hospital admission and deaths in Australia.
  • We participate in global drug trials to assess the most advanced care available to patients with cardiovascular disease.
