The hospital runs a variety of in-house education programs and courses, using internal and external trainers, throughout the year.
Graduate Program (RN Division 1)
The Graduate Nurse Program at St John of God hospital, Bendigo has been established for recent graduates to enable them to master their new role and to grow both personally and professionally within a supportive and caring environment.
The program features:
12 month program, supported by all nursing staff, specifically preceptors, Clinical Support Nurse, Graduate Nurse Co-ordinator, and Nurse educators.
Participants are employed full-time or part-time (0.8EFT).
10 graduate nurse positions are available in 2010 - 4 positions in theatre/surgical admission/procedure unit stream (two 6 month rotations); 6 positions in general medical/surgical and specialty streams (three 4 month rotations)
Comprehensive orientation program with supernumery ward time and regular study days allocated throughout the year.
Extensive staff training and development program.
