Providing information and support to women and their families affected by antenatal and postnatal anxiety and depression.
Pregnancy and childbirth is a period traditionally associated with happiness and celebration. However, for many parents, especially women, this may also be a time of distress. The transition to parenthood brings immense physical, emotional and social upheaval that can be overwhelming for parents at a time when they are also getting to know their new baby.
The Raphael Centre offers a support and information service for parents affected by anxiety or depression during pregnancy, or in the two years following the birth of their baby. Our highly experienced and specialised team provides a family centred service that aims to:
Enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of women and their families
Support parents in their relationship with each other and their baby
Increase parenting satisfaction and coping skills
