Application review

You will only be contacted if you are successful for the interview stage. The panel will short list applicants for interview who meet the selection criteria. This may take up to two weeks after the closing date.

The interview

At this stage, you would have been contacted by phone to attend an interview. The interview will be held with a selection panel of at least two people.

If you know one or more of the members of the selection committee do not expect them to help you with the interview.  You must answer questions and put matters on record as though no member of the panel is aware of your work history. Any reports or examples of your work that you consider relevant should be presented at the interview

The interview questions will be based on the selection criteria applicable to the position. You will also be asked questions relating to work ethic, teamwork, and communication. It is advisable that you provide examples of previous work situations where you applied the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Take time to answer each question and seek clarification if necessary. The members of the selection panel will take notes to assist in recalling your details when making its decision.

The interview is a two-way communication process. The selection committee will be finding out how well you meet the job requirements, and you should be finding out how well the job meets your requirements for such things as development opportunities and working conditions.

Duty of disclosure

You are obliged to disclose at the interview any information you are aware of that could impair or impede your performance in the position and should be considered by the panel in its assessment.

Reference checks

If we are considering employing you we will make verbal contact with two referees. Make sure your references are up to date. Failure to provide references could mean that we are unable to continue with your application any further.

Medical checks

We may require you to undergo a medical check. It is important to note that we do not discriminate on these grounds and checks are only done to make sure that the job you have applied for does not have the capacity to injure either yourself, or others.
