Social Outreach and Advocacy

St John of God Pathology caregivers across various laboratories provide support to local communities via numerous programs.

St John of God Pathology, as a division of St John of God Health Care, is committed to reaching out to people experiencing disadvantage to improve health and well being via Social Outreach and Advocacy services and programs.

Our caregivers provide support to local communities via the following programs:

Swan City Youth Service

St John of God Pathology supports Swan City Youth Service. Located in Midland, the service is a non-government, not for profit organisation which works with young people aged 12-25 yrs. They run a variety of life skills, educational and recreational programs including an alcohol and other drugs program. The service also provides a “Drop in” area where young people can go to simply hangout or receive counselling. St John of God Pathology‘s financial support is used predominantly to assist with staff training and development at Swan City Youth Service.

For more information go to the Swan City Youth Service website

Ruah Refuge

St John of God Pathology continues to support Ruah Refuge, which provides support and accommodation services to women with children in their care who are experiencing life crises like family and domestic violence and homelessness. Ruah Refuge provides support including: counselling about the effects of family and domestic violence, assistance to secure suitable housing, counselling about the impacts of homelessness, referral, information and advocacy on behalf of families. Our caregivers raise funds to provide financial assistance, collect toys, clothing, household goods and also hold 'working bees' at the Ruah Refuge to renovate the units, patio areas and gardens.

Christmas hampers

St John of God Pathology provides Christmas hampers for distribution through St Vincent De Paul Society in metropolitan Perth and in Geraldton and Bunbury, through local charities. Caregivers supplement these hampers by contributing a variety of gifts from toys to non-perishable food.
