Total joint replacement surgery can be a life changing procedure, with significant pain relief and improvement in physical function and quality of life for patients with severe osteoarthritis. However, the recovery period can be difficult and challenging. Like all aspects of health, being pro-active about your pre-operative strength, mobility and function, and committing to your post-operative rehabilitation are essential for optimal recovery. In this session, Senior Physiotherapist and owner of Mercy Physiotherapy, our onsite physiotherapy clinic and hydrotherapy service, will discuss "prehab" and "rehab" for orthopaedic conditions, and ways in which you can increase the chances of a successful post-operative outcome.

Thursday 14 March 2:00pm to 2:40pm

Session led by Senior Physiotherapist Michelle (Owner of Mercy Physiotherapy).

Our osteo aqua class is a 40 minute exercise circuit. Water exercise is an excellent way for people with arthritis to build strength, ease stiff joints and relax sore muscles. The buoyancy of the water takes the weight off painful joints. The heat of the water can also relieve pain and warm up muscles and joints so they are able to move easily. Water can provide as little or as much resistance as you like. This means exercises can be easily adjusted to suit people with varied strength and mobility. Exercising in water can also improve endurance and fitness.
