Youth support and counselling
Our Youth Support service provides integrated
services supporting young people seeking individual social work
support, advocacy and support, youth drug and alcohol assessment,
counselling and group work.
If you are a young person in need of support,
we can support you by:
- Meeting you anywhere that suits you, such as
in your home, school or on the street.
- Helping you sort out family hassles.
- Talking through “stuff” that’s worrying
you.
- Making sure you are getting what you need,
such as health services, counselling, alcohol and drug information
or whatever else.
We can help you sort out your options for:
- Accommodation
- Courses
- School
- Benefits
- Employment
We can advocate for you at and with:
- Court/Family Group Conferences
- Child Youth and Family
- Police
- Work and Income New Zealand
- Landlords
We offer:
- Crisis intervention
- Advocacy
- Social work support
- Casework
- Practical assistance with physical
needs
and coping with difficulties
- Access to information
Counselling at Waipuna
We provide counselling, and alcohol and drug
treatment, for people aged 13-25. Counselling is free but funding
to help fund the service may be available through Work and Income
New Zealand or the Accident Compensation Corporation.
Waipuna also provides supervision to people
working in social services – there is a negotiable fee payable for
supervision.
Referrals
We take self-referrals or referrals through an
agency, families or individuals.

Our counselling service is available at
Waipuna – 349 Woodham Road, Linwood – and is also mobile, seeing
you where it is most convenient for you.
