Accord Community Engagement Service (West)

ACES Western, Sydenham

ACES Western is an Adult Training and Support Service for young adults with a disability located on the Melton Highway not far from St Albans. Newcomers to Accord Community Engagement Services (ACES) in the western region are participating in group programs with other adults they choose to engage with. As a relatively recent day service, ACES Western seeks to create and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiasm and excitement. Choice is the buzz word of the centre, with each person encouraged to be creative in choosing activities reflecting personal interest.

Instructors at ACES Western regularly explore how best to facilitate and support opportunities in the community around meaningful occupation, connection and participation. Personal fitness is a key philosophy, reflected in swimming, gym and basketball. Developing creative skills in textiles and art remains ever popular, along with building a range of cuisines in the kitchen. Important in these and the many other activities is the level of participation and satisfaction that both instructors and the people we support continually enjoy.

This enthusiasm and energy makes ACES Western an outstanding place to be. With the average age of clients around 25 there is no wonder the service is identified as a place of endless possibilities, endless engagement and endless fun.  With staff totally committed to seeking a person centred approach for each person, it seems the sky is the limit.
