In keeping with the pursuit of personalised services, ACES offers people the opportunity to engage in outreach programs within the local community.

Accord Community Engagement Service (North)

Accord Community Engagement Services (ACES)

Northern Region (Churinga / Greensborough)

The challenge for organisations like St John of God Accord is to introduce personalised, flexible and responsive services that go beyond traditional site-based day services. Our programs highlight the difference between community presence and genuine community engagement. Being ‘in’ the community is not the same as being ‘part’ of the community. ACES acknowledges that people with a disability do have the capacity to choose a lifestyle option that meets their needs. People can then be supported to explore and connect with their local community in self-directed group programs. This is a widely accepted goal articulated by the Disability Act 2006 and the Victorian State Disability Plan 2002-2012.

At ACES Northern we currently have three service areas: The Arts Precinct, Urban Agriculture and Choices.

How to access this service

People with a disability aged over 18 years who live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and are registered with the Department of Human Services (DHS), can access this service. If you are interested, contact ACES Northern or the intake worker from the DHS Regional Client Services team. An individual lifestyle program plan is developed outlining a person's goals and how those goals can be achieved. Generally services are provided between 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, 46 weeks per year. Fees are charged for administration, program costs and transport (if required).
