Drug Action Week 2011 is a national week of activities coordinated by the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) with funding support from the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA).

The overarching theme for this year's activities is: 'Looking after YOUR mind!'

The five sub-thematic areas for the week's activities are:

  • Don't mix alcohol and other drugs
  • The drinking culture of young Australians
  • Country communities: risk from alcohol and other drugs
  • Improve health care for indigenous communities
  • Invest in prevention initiatives to reduce treatment need

Pinelodge Clinic will be involved in some promotional activities within our local community to highlight the risks of drug and alcohol misuse.

Mental Health Week, 09 - 15 October 2011

Mental Health Week is a national promotional campaign drawing attention to the social and emotional wellbeing of people living with a mental, behavioural or neurological illness. 10th October also marks World Mental Health Day - an international day led by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to highlight the need for effective mental health care across the world.

Approximately one in five Australians will experience a mental health illness in their lifetime. Mental illness affects every facet of a person's life from employment, to relationships, to everyday functioning. During Mental Health Week, Pinelodge Clinic will be involved in local events and campaigns to raise awareness of mental health issues and how it affects individuals, families and communities.
