There are now 16 skilled St John of God Hospital Murdoch
caregivers who provide the following services:
- Health
promotion: using a focus on the social determinants of
health to deliver services such as expressive therapies and
community education within Fremantle, Cockburn and Melville
communities, aimed at improved health outcomes.
- Ferns House counselling and
group work for people experiencing depression and anxiety.
- St Patrick’s Community Support
Centre: advocacy, support and health promotion for people
based on the street, or in short-term accommodation.
- South Lake Ottey Family
and Neighbourhood Centre (Ottey Centre): a full time Social
and Emotional Wellbeing worker supports children and young people
and their families.
- Early Intervention: a Social and
Emotional Wellbeing Worker, situated at the City of Cockburn’s
(CoC) Youth Centre in Success, provides support and advocacy for
at-risk young people.
- Palliative care and
bereavement counselling: specialist counsellors located at
Murdoch Community Hospice and Ferns House provide support for
individuals and their families at the end of life and following
bereavement.
